Students are to find three images that relate to Australian Identity. Post these in your edublog. Describe why you selected each image.

Mateship is an Australian cultural idiom that embodies equality , loyalty and friendship , that is, the working-class ethos. There are two types of mateship, the inclusive and the exclusive; the inclusive is in relation to a shared situation (e.g., employment, sports, or hardship), whereas the exclusive type is toward a third (e.g., a person that you have just met).

Here is seen English allrounder Flintoff consoling Brett lee of australia. This happened in the historic ashes series in 2005 at england. The match in focus is that held at Birmingham. Australia chasing 282 for victory lost their way and 9 wickets with only 220 on board. Brett lee and Kasprowicz held on fighting. Just when victory was in sight and only 3 runs away, kasprowicz lost his wicket and Brett lee almost broke down crying. That’s when Andy flintoff went to him even before celebrating a rare victory against the aussies to console him.

Here i can see that Australia has a sense of unity. As you can see that the symbolization of the different flags representing the different states of Australia. This characteristic of Australia can be seen everywhere in the vast beautiful country full of vibrant colours and exotic wildlife.

Journal Entry 6: Final Refelection

1. How well did your group work?

My group worked really well even though there were constant arguments between a couple of group members.

2. Would you work with the same group of students again? Why?

Yes i would work with the same group again because they were really working at the best of their abilities. The group also had constant reminders on what work had to be completed and by what certain time/date. The team was really well organized, i think that i could learn from the cooperation and the lack of time management.

3. How much effort did you put into this project? What could you have done better?

I put a lot of effort into this project, I think that i should learn to manage my time well. The time management was exceptional by Raahulan, all credits to him.

4. Do you think your final wikispace was your best work? Why?

My final wikispace was my best work because i put a lot of effort.

5. What did you think of the project when you received it? Why?

When i had received the project I had no clue on what we had to do. But after consulting with the rest of the group i had figured out that we only needed to do an art caption on the image.

6. What do you think of the project now you have completed it? Why?

My final wikispace was my best work because it contains all the necessary components that needed as compared to the rubric.

7. What did you like in the project? Why?

The only thing that i liked about the project was that we only had to do the art captions and not make 12 different images.

8. What did you not like in the project? Why?

I did not like having the project due in such a short amount of time.

9. How can the teachers make your next project better?

They can tell you from the start on what you have to do rather than half the way into the project.

Journal Entry 5 – Images of Jesus

1. Has your image of Jesus changed during the project? How or Why not?

No, because I feel that my image of Jesus is perfectly fine to me as has qualities of Jesus portrayed through representation of symbols and colours. I will not also change the image for a short amount of time because the due dates of other projects are arriving soon. I really think that my image hasn’t changed because I still depict Jesus in the one image. I have seen many images of Jesus but by collaborating a couple of images and making my depicted image stand out.

2. What do you feel is the best way to portray an image of Jesus and why?
The best way to depict Jesus is by really thinking of how you actually see in him as a person/spirit. It is important to look deep down inside yourself and find that right image the personally shows Jesus the way you what him to be shown.

3. What have you enjoyed about the project so far and what would you do differently?

I have enjoyed learn the different ways Jesus has been depicted and panted through out history. It was really interesting how depending one what events are happening through out that time, affect on how people feel and how they will paint their artworks. I don’t think I would do anything differently at this point in time.

Journal Entry 4: Introduction to Images of Jesus

1. What form of medium(music, art or literature) allows you to best connect with Jesus and why?

The medium which allows me to become closer to Jesus is through art. I like to observe artworks of worship and praise and I enjoy the praise through the artwork I feel by observing religious images. Also it is a lot easier to express it through art as you can show visual context as people believe in the saying “Seeing is Believing” and our inner feelings through it.

2. Why has Jesus been portrayed in so many different ways throughout history.

Jesus has been portrayed in many ways because: People wanted to imagine a scene with Jesus and wanted to know what he looked like. To replicate events that happened in his life.

How is Jesus protrayed at Parramatta Marist.

At Marist, Jesus is shown on a crucifix in every classroom. He is also shown in some paintings in few rooms in the school. Jesus is also portrayed at our school by looking at the characteristics of students.

1) What words and or images come to mind when you hear the word Jesus.

Words – Love, kindness, peace, trust, caring, hope, sharing, strong, sacrifice, respect, beautiful, loyalty, forgiveness.

2) Why might it be important for young people to identify with an image of Jesus?

I think that it is important for young people to recognize images of Jesus because it can help the young people live a better life ahead of them, they can learn moral ideals and not to make vital mistakes that can affect their future life.

3) Where in your life do you most associate with images of Jesus?

I mostly associate images of Jesus in life when I am sad, when I am alone at home I just look at an image of Jesus and then I get a feeling that he is always there no matter what. Images of Jesus also helps me and my family know how he looked liked when we pray

1. How many rubrics are there for this project?

There are 3 rubrics all together. 2 group rubrics and one individual rubric.

2. Describe the purpose of the rubric?

The purpose of the rubric is to give students a better understanding of what they can do to get the best possible marks.

3. How can you use the rubric to get the best possible mark?

You can use the rubric to get the best possible marks by clarifying that your work meets up with the rubric standards. By looking up different sections you can then do the necessary requirements to achieve the best possible mark.

Journal Entry 1 – Selecting Groups

Using Your Edublogs Page, Under CST/IST – Project 4 answer the following question.
1) List the Problems that could occur from students selecting their own groups.
The problem with students selecting their own groups is that student might want to be partners with their mates who might not necessarily be intelligent blokes who want to work. The other problem is that students are more likely to go off task when they are working in groups with people who they know and they tend to chat more then they work. The third and final problem with students selecting their own groups is that students tend to select the most intelligent students in the class who do work and are the smartest who don’t care if the odd person out doesn’t do his/her work.

2) Which type of student do you think would be selected first?
The type of student that will be first selected would be the smart students. This is because all the students want smart pupils in their group so they could achieve and ‘A’ easily for not doing any work.

3) Why do you think they were selected first?
This is because all the students want smart pupils in their group so they could achieve and ‘A’ easily for not doing any work.

4) Which type of student will be selected last?
The dumb, lazy, uncooperative will be selected last.

5) What beneficial characteristics can you offer to your group?
I can offer my group high standard/quality work which is going to benefit others more than myself. That is if they cooperate.

6) What would you personally want to improve on during this project?
I would like to improve on time management, extended knowledge of photoshop and organization.

a) Hubble’s involvement in space research

The Hubble Space Telescope is known for its involvement in finding nebulas, confirming the big bang, show other stars, galaxies and other planets.

b) What the space telescope does

The space telescope does low earth orbits and it takes photographs of where no eye can go.

c) Where it is

It is currently hovering over south-east asia

Individual Task 4: Vitues of Jesus

1.) Give a brief description of who the Dalai Lama is?

He is the head of state and the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. They believe that the Dalai Lama is a reincarnation of Buddha. Also he is a teacher, by teaching hundreds of pilgrims the way of Buddhism.

2.) Evaluate how the actions of the Dalai Lama in regard to the riots in Tibet would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity.

Because the people that he has taught the ways of a buddhist have still gone out and started a riot, so the Dalai Lama threatens to quit because he sees that his beliefs are incompatible with these riots, and that he has made more fundamental ethical commitments.
